At Esther B. Clark School, we work to create a community where students and staff feel valued, connected and empowered. For many of our students and families, school hasn’t always felt like a place where they belong. Our goal is to change that by helping students rebuild trust in themselves, in others, and in the learning process.
Every part of our program is designed to meet students where they are academically, socially, and emotionally. Then guide them toward greater stability, connection, and success.
EBC students are diverse learners—some are working at grade level, some above or below, and others are catching up after missed instruction or managing learning differences.
Our teachers meet each student where they are, using personalized strategies and tools such as:
At EBC School, we understand that behavioral challenges are a manifestation of emotional dysregulation, and do not define our students.
Our behavior program is built on the core belief that all students want to be successful, and are capable of developing self-regulatory skills in a safe, supportive, and consistent environment.
Students at EBC may display maladaptive behaviors to express an underlying need. Under the direction of our on campus BCBA, we work to build strategies and supports to get those needs met. Our staff are highly trained in understanding that the externalized or internalized behavior is much more than what we can see, and with the support of our multidisciplinary team, we work collaboratively to design plans, supports and interventions to support the student in getting their needs met in a new way.
With the expertise of EBC’s program and staff, children with social-emotional challenges re-engage in learning and develop positive skills to transition back to a more traditional less restrictive school environment.
At Esther B. Clark School, we use a proactive, student-centered behavior system called Positive Behavior Teaching (PBT) to help students thrive—both emotionally and academically.
Students receive behavior scores each class period based on clear, schoolwide expectations. With support from a Classroom Behavior Specialist, they:
Positive reinforcement, such as outdoor time or drawing, helps motivate progress and growth.
At Esther B. Clark School, therapy is a core part of each student’s experience. Every student receives four dedicated therapy sessions per week, designed to support emotional growth, resilience, and family connection.
Students participate in two small group therapy sessions each week:
Highly qualified professionals provide onsite related services to students as designated by the student’s IEP. These professionals collaborate closely with the student’s classroom team, therapist and caregivers to maximize their support and progress.
