The Targeted Evaluation Process for Ages 0-5

Our targeted autism evaluations are designed to provide families with a fast and efficient way to receive a medical diagnosis, eliminating unnecessary delays.

1

Initial Meeting

[30 minutes]

An intake appointment with parents/caregivers where we gather information about your child’s history, discuss your specific concerns and goals for your child’s evaluation.

2

Complete Questionnaires

[30-60 minutes]

We will ask caregivers and at least one teacher or caregiver who knows your child well to complete questionnaires about the child’s social, emotional, and behavioral functioning.

3

Parent/Caregiver Interview

[2 hours]

Once we receive the completed questionnaires, we will schedule a 2-hour parent interview (Zoom).

4

Assessment Visit

[2 hours]

The 2-hour child testing session takes place in one visit at our Palo Alto or San Jose office. Telehealth visits are also available upon request. The visit includes testing with a psychologist and a speech and language pathologist (as needed).

5

Feedback Meeting

[1 hour]

We meet to review the results and discuss recommendations in detail. During this 1-hour parent feedback session, you’ll receive a 2–3 page summary outlining the main findings, any diagnoses, and a personalized action plan.

6

Receive the Full Report

You will receive the full report within two weeks of the assessment. The report includes detailed information about your child’s developmental, adaptive, speech/language, and social-emotional functioning.

The evaluation will also confirm or rule out an autism spectrum diagnosis.
