Our Medi-Cal clinic offers a 9-month internship for second year graduate students in MFT and MSW programs at our San Jose location, providing hands-on experience in working with families in Santa Clara County (SCC) with Medi-Cal benefits. Experiences include individual therapy for individuals between the ages of 6-20 years old, parent/caregiver and family support, trauma-informed care, case management services, and community-based behavioral health services.
Real-world clinical training providing specialty mental health (SMH) with under resourced families.
Culturally and linguistically centered care with diverse clientele whose primary languages include Spanish, Vietnamese, Mandarin Chinese, and Russian, among others
Expert supervision from an interdisciplinary team including LCSWs, LMFTs, and clinical psychologists with a variety of specialties, as well as weekly 2-hour group supervision and didactics with MFT and MSW associates and those within their first year of licensure.
Like other services available at CHC, our internship program provides the opportunity to provide quality behavioral health services at no-cost to families with SCC Medi-Cal.
Our clinic is also one of the sole providers of neuropsychological and autism evaluations for families in SCC, thus providing a unique opportunity to support families through the assessment process and be able to observe and consult with the evaluation team, including clinical psychologists, and our rehabilitation specialists, which include educational specialists, occupational therapists, and speech and language pathologists.
Questions and inquiries regarding our MSW/MFT internship may be sent to Melanie Hsu, PhD at [email protected].
