Shreya Sharma,

MD

Fellow

Dr. Sharma is a Bay Area native who has always been passionate about people and community. She completed her undergraduate studies at UC Davis, attended medical school at Boston University, and trained in adult psychiatry at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston before returning home to complete Child Psychiatry training at Stanford. Her journey through medicine has been guided by a deep curiosity about human behavior and a desire to support people through life’s most challenging moments—especially children and families.

She’s always been drawn to working with kids—probably because she grew up as the oldest sister to lots of younger cousins. That natural caretaking role sparked a lifelong interest in child development and helping young people thrive. She spent summers working at camps where she loved creating safe, fun, and growth-oriented spaces for kids. Before medical school, she worked as a substitute paraeducator, which gave her firsthand experience supporting children with diverse learning and emotional needs in school settings. These early experiences reinforced her belief that every child deserves to be seen, heard, and supported.

Her passion for children’s mental health comes from a deep belief in helping shape the next generation, and she especially loves working within family systems. She knows psychiatry is just one piece of the puzzle, so she takes a thoughtful, holistic approach to care—one that considers each child’s strengths, environment, and unique story. Whether it’s collaborating with parents, schools, or other providers, she values building strong, supportive relationships to create meaningful change.
