CHC’s Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychology offers a one-year, full-time position for candidates who have earned their PhD or PsyD from an APA-accredited psychology graduate program and an APA-accredited doctoral internship. Our program adopts an interdisciplinary approach to client care that is developmentally appropriate, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed.
Fellows will refine their skills across APA’s profession-wide competencies, preparing them for licensure and independent practice as psychologists. Additionally, our fellows receive comprehensive training in community engagement, advocacy, lateral peer supervision of doctoral interns in the Stanford Children’s Hospital/CHC Internship Consortium, and teaching opportunities.
Our dedicated team of seasoned supervisors are deeply committed to shaping the next generation of culturally responsive, ethical, and highly skilled psychologists. As an educational leader in the community, fellows have access to exceptional training and continuing education courses taught by top professionals each year.
Our program offers generalist training for children and adolescents in an outpatient community clinic. In addition, we provide fellows with opportunities to gain specialized, evidence-based skills with target populations (at-risk adolescents and very young children) and exposure to sub-acute settings (Intensive Outpatient Program).
Collaborate with a diverse team to conduct comprehensive evaluations.
Work with children and adolescents from diverse cultural backgrounds and diagnostic presentations.
Engage with internal team members and external providers in the community.
In partnership with Stanford, fellows receive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for individual and group settings within our RISE Intensive Outpatient Program for at-risk adolescents.
Fellows may also have opportunities to contribute to CHC’s Early Childhood Program, gaining experience in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and other evidence-based practices for young children. Fellows can gain additional assessment experience, as well as early developmental assessments in our outpatient community setting.

Dear Potential Applicant,
Thank you for your interest in our Psychology Internship and Fellowship Training Programs. At Children’s Health Council (CHC), we are proud to offer specialized training in clinical child and adolescent psychology, with a strong commitment to serving the culturally diverse communities of the Bay Area. Our program materials provide an overview of the rich learning experiences we offer, including supervised professional practice, comprehensive training didactics, and the core values that guide our work.
At CHC, we are committed to training highly qualified behavioral health professionals. Our team of dedicated psychologists supports the growth and development of interns and fellows, preparing them for independent practice as health service psychologists. With a focus on serving diverse and underserved children and families, we take pride in shaping future clinicians who exercise sound clinical judgment, promote societal well-being, and advance the field of psychology.
Our child and adolescent psychology training programs embrace lifelong learning. We foster an environment where trainees can build their skills, recognize their strengths, and develop in key competency areas. We also value and respect the unique cultural identities each trainee brings to our team, clinic, and broader community. Our training emphasizes developmentally appropriate, evidence-based, and culturally responsive clinical services, while also supporting professional development, ethical decision-making, and scholarly inquiry.
Beyond clinical training, we encourage our interns and fellows to practice self-care, ensuring longevity and engagement in the field. Successful trainees approach learning with openness, adaptability, cultural curiosity, and a collaborative spirit. Many of our graduates have gone on to secure competitive postdoctoral fellowships, staff psychologist positions, academic faculty roles, and private practice opportunities. We are also proud to have former trainees thriving as staff psychologists within our organization.
We hope this information helps as you consider whether our program aligns with your training goals. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us via email—we look forward to hearing from you and potentially welcoming you to our training community.
