Ravenswood Wellness Partnership (RWP) Practicum at CHC

The RWP Training Consortium offers a 10-month practicum for graduate students in master’s and doctoral programs, providing hands-on experience in child and family psychotherapy, trauma-informed care, and community-based mental health services.


About the RWP Practicum

Real-World Clinical Training

Gain experience working with historically under-resourced communities.

Expert Supervision & Support

Train with dedicated psychologists and behavioral health clinicians.

Culturally & Linguistically Responsive Care

Serve a diverse client base, including Latinx (70%), Pacific Islander, African American, immigrant, and first-generation populations.

Community-Based Impact

Work at CHC’s East Palo Alto mental health clinic, addressing trauma, adversity, and psychosocial stress.

This practicum prepares students to deliver compassionate, evidence-based mental health services
—ensuring every child receives the care they deserve.

Clinical & Professional Training Experiences

At CHC, participants provide no-cost, outpatient clinical services primarily to children and families. Principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion are integrated across clinical and professional training activities. Externs engage in comprehensive hands-on training, including:

Direct Clinical Work

Provide individual and family therapy, parent coaching, and long-term therapeutic services.

Specialized Training & Case Consultation

Participate in weekly didactic training led by Stanford Children’s, alongside weekly case conferences featuring student case presentations, discussions, and team consultations.

Assessment & Treatment Planning

Conduct intakes, case conceptualization, measurement-informed care, collaborative treatment planning, and case management.

Expert Supervision & Mentorship

Receive weekly one-on-one supervision from CHC psychologists who bring diverse cultural, linguistic, and theoretical perspectives, along with extensive experience in evidence-based interventions.

This structured, immersive training experience equips participants with the skills and confidence to provide high-quality, culturally responsive care to children and families.
